Rotto, Australia Day
by Graham Leggate on Feb.01, 2010, under Photography
For Australia Day around 100 photographers gathered together on the awsome True North to listen to some fantastic photographers. We had a couple of hours on Rotto, the light was pretty harsh. I’m still doing some post processing and stitching, so hopefully I might get some pics up in the next day or two. In any case whilst walking back from town I came across the following scene which I think was worth wasting a digital frame to see what I could make of it later. Anyway, here’s a shot taken as the sun was getting low of a couple walking after doing some shopping.
Some simple post processing, adjusted the levels a little, add some more haze, applied a sepia tone layer, that’s pretty much about it

Interesting photo Graham. The sepia works well and I love the contrast of sharp silhouettes against the ‘haze’.
Looks a bit like a lens baby effect. Probably would work best in a large print or a small print cropped a bit tighter?
Can’t wait to see the other shots.

Hi Matt, I have worked on a new version of this picture, which I have cropped a bit tighter and fixed some of the inconsistencies in the lens bluring. It will be posted tomorrow around 3pm. I used it as an entry in to the Rotto photo comp.

Nicely seen, captured and finished. I wonder if there is anything you can do with my quokka shots?

Hey Muzz! Thanks. My own quokka shots are shockers, I think they would have done a better job of taking a picture of me

Nice Grahem ,I really like this.
Great capture and nice treatment. Just a tighter crop with a bit off the bottom , maybe bring it to a square, and its a winner IMHO.

I’m trying to source images that I may use, as I have not yet developed the complete design for the site. So just in case this is the image I want to use, I thought I better ask your permission. I’m happy to acknowledge the source of the image and/or link back to your site.
