Having Fun with Portraits
by Graham Leggate on Jul.04, 2010, under Photography
Over the weekend I was playing with the little ones in the new mostly built alfereso area and shot off a few frames. I think a few of them are keepers, if not for any other reason than I’m their dad
All shot using a Nikon D90 and 50mm f/1.8. Still surprised at how sharp these little lenses are for the money.

The shot of James looks really weird man… Love the shots of Amelie though.

Oddly, I was going for something different with James portrait. I have a couple of really nice smiley ones, however I opted to process this one and sort of turn him into a little old man, just for something different. I was try to go for an old man with a baby face

I wasn’t going to say it, but seeing Kheng has I’d have to agree. Nice triptych of Amelie, really natural.

Thanks Matt.

Graham, Being a D90 advocate too I’m always interested in your work. Especially using a 50mm prime which becomes a 75mm effectively. Lovely sharp portraits with the b/ground dropping out appropriately.
Looks like I could do with a 50mm prime.
Clive.

Hi Clive. The 50mm f/1.8 is my fav. lens at the moment. It is light, sharp, good colour, fast (as in aperture, focus is average), and cheap. It’s a little star.

Hello Graham,
As I have said on previous occasions, you have a natural creative for excellent child photography, albeit enhanced by a D90 with a f/1.8 lense, as with the Black and White/Colour contrast of James. A good Trio of Amelie ‘Cracking Up’, and of the single, enjoying herself.
Regards,
Brian.
