The weather over the weekend was fantastic, great for a bit of gardening and visiting Perth’s tourist hot spot, Kings Park. We really don’t visit Kings Park very often… probably because of being so far North Anyway, I love Kings Park, it’s fantastic, it’s such a beautiful park. We went for a walk about and I squeezed off a few frames, including the picture below of the war memorial, which I decided to post. I’m off to Sydney tomorrow for work, hopefully I might get a chance to get some pictures whilst I’m there.

On Tuesday night Kheng and I decided to head out and do some photo’s. We didn’t really have anything in mind, we just wanted to get out and shoot some landscape type shots. Well, I guess these are more urban and cityscape, rather than landscape.

Hard to believe our youngest is going to be 1 on Sunday! It feels like he has been around forever, but it doesn’t feel like he has been with us for as long as 1 year either! All I know is they grow up really fast. We headed down to a little park on the coast near the Wild Fig cafe on the weekend to get some fresh air, and here’s a couple of snaps of our little boy, who seems to weigh a ton, a week before he turns 1.

It has been a rather wet day, and it is pretty hard to enjoy our place in the wet at the moment. Both areas in our backyard are building sites! I thought I would do some portraits of the kids whilst they were playing. A quick edit in Aperture, and I’m happy All these images are taken using the Nikon D90 and Nikon 50mm f/1.8D lens.

Here are some pictures taken from my dry hotel room, it seemed to rain constantly for two days whilst I was in Sydney. Unfortunately my visit to Sydney didn’t lend it self for me to get out and about to do any photography, however I did some quick pictures late one night from my hotel room, on the 26th floor.

This picture was taken hand held from the 26th floor, with a Nikon 18-105 VR, ISO 2500, f/5.6, 1/15th.

This is for the family. The image below is of Amelie doing an Easter egg hunt in the backyard. She had lots of fun over the weekend and has been a little angel.

Following on from my last post I had a pano which I was working on. There are a few flaws in this pano, which I’m sure somebody will point out. I did have a good version, however Aperture decided to crash and I lost the edit Anyway, here is my most recent edit, faults included! I’m sort of sick of looking at it, so I think it is just better to post it.

This is a 4 image pano, each exposure was taken at ISO 400, f/11, 2.5 seconds. In hind sight, I should have dropped the ISO and increased the exposure time to get a more consistent look on the water.

A couple of weeks ago, Kheng and I headed into Freo to do some night photography. I thought I would post a couple of my pics from the night.

The first picture is of Kamila (Kheng’s better half ) waiting for a coffee on the main strip. I can’t remember the name of the cafe, apparently it’s a bit of a landmark … funny I thought Miss Maude’s was a landmark, until it disappeared. Shows how often I venture south

Both images were post processed in Aperture 3. The first image took around 10 minutes to create, whilst the second took.. well less then 5 minutes, not sure how long. If you haven’t guessed already, I really like Aperture 3. Mind you the latest patch (v3.0.2) seems to have introduced an annoying bug on the export. Hopefully that will be fixed soon.

The next image is of some sea containers on the North Quay. Pretty much a straight B&W conversion. I quite like the contrast and light reflecting off the containers. I think it works well as a B&W.

With recent event’s, I had fallen behind on reading many of the blogs I usually follow. Like usual, Mark S is posting like a machine. I’m not sure if that man sleeps! Anyway, he has posted some images of Boab trees in the Kimberly, so I thought I would dig up this picture, which was taken at Broome’s Town Beach.  A few of my mates have seen this image, it’s one which hangs proudly at the end of a hallway at home.

I haven’t had much of an opportunity to get out and do some landscapes. However I have been doing some portraits recently. So I thought I would post a couple of portraits of my little ones, and also an image of my step dad who sadly passed away today.

The B&W images were processed in Aperture 3, using the pre-set filters. The images had some localised sharpening done, using a brush, mainly around the eyes, and on Ami’s hair. The images were shot using a Nikon 50mm f/1.8 on a D90.
