They say you should always look behind you when photographing. This is why. This was the view looking away from the sunrise, where I was photographing Gannet Rock. This is such a lovely coastline.

Funny the people you bump into in the strangest places. I was shooting Sugar Loaf Rock just before sunrise, and I bumped into a couple whose wedding we shot at the end of last year. It’s sometimes a small world! To even amplify how small the world is, I met with a prospective client on Saturday night who found us via a google search. During showing off a slide show of images, the couple had me stop not once but twice, because they spotted two other couples whose wedding’s we shot who they knew. It’s such a small world!

I have had some time to start going over some images I shot back in June 2011 when we went on holiday to Vince, Dubai, Prague and London. Below is a HDR looking back to the London Eye. I quite like the colours and how they pop against the dark moody sky.

Love Padlocks, Prague

Wikipedia states: Love padlocks (also known as Love Locks) are a custom by which padlocks are affixed to a fence, gate, bridge or similar public fixture by sweethearts to symbolise their everlasting love. We came across a little bridge in Prague which had hundreds of these locks.

Love the museums in London. Below is a HDR taken by balancing the camera on some stair railings. For this type of shot a wide angel lens would have been great. In any case here is my effort with a 24-70 (Nikon f/2.8) on a cropped sensor body (Nikon D90).

Below is one of the images taken of the “egg” in Beijing. Also known as the National Centre for the Performing Arts, or the Opera House. The Centre, is a dome of titanium and glass surrounded by an artificial lake. The building seats 5,452 people in three halls and is almost 12,000 m² in size, I was really surprised on how big the building is. Shooting on a cropped sensor with a 24-70 you can’t actually get the entire building in a single frame. I ended up shooting a bunch of images to stitch together, which I will do when I get some time. Below is a HDR of 3 images taken at 2 stops apart.

A couple of weekends ago I had a milestone birthday. I wasn’t going to blog about it, but the cake that a friend of ours made was so awesome that I decided to post some pictures of the cake and give her business a plug. I have started slowly processing some images from our recent holiday, which now feels like it was ages ago (thanks to work!).The image below is taken along the Riviera Santa Maria Elisabetta. The building with the green dome is called Parrocchia Santa Maria Elisabetta, which is a Catholic church.
