A Long Way Home

by on Sep.03, 2009, under Photography

Last Sunday we went for a wander around Star Swamp and took this shot of Amelie wandering a head. I quite like the contrast in colours and the shallow depth of field.

The next picture is just for some fun. I liked the detail in the bark and the contrast of the ridges. Anyway… gotta have some fun.

Really would have loved to have seen the whole body in the first shot. The feet really give the impression of freedom of movement to me.

As you say though, colour, contrast and DOF all work for me in the shot though. Nice symmetry too.

I know what you see in the second shot too. Something draws you in to stare even though it is not really a photo of anything, it is a photo of something interesting.

    Lovely! Lovely!
The pic of Amelie is very heartwarming.
I’m also a fan of capturing textures in bark etc.

The first photo works very well, I don’t think you need to show a full length shot of Amelie, it would have killed the 1/3rd rule.

You could have bumped up the contract of the bark to show more details perhaps?
